GREEN AND CLIMATE RESILIENCE FUND

The impacts of climate change include warming temperatures, changes in precipitation, increases in the frequency or intensity of some extreme weather events, and rising sea levels. These impacts threaten our health by affecting the food we eat, the water we drink, the air we breathe, and the weather we experience.

The impacts of climate change on different sectors of society are interrelated. Drought can harm food production and human health. Flooding can lead to disease spread and damages to ecosystems and infrastructure. Human health issues can increase mortality, impact food availability, and limit worker productivity. Climate change impacts are seen throughout every aspect of the world we live in.

Africa is particularly hit hard by climate change. In West Africa, climate change impacts are already affecting agriculture and coastal economic activities. In the next 10-20 years, unprecedented changes in temperatures and precipitation are projected in the region. The World Bank has identified rising sea levels and coastal erosion across the region as major risks that will increase the exposure and vulnerability of local populations and assets. A 2021 report from the bank also calculated that by 2050 up to 32 million people could be displaced in West Africa due to climate change.

The Tabe Jeanne Foundation, through the Green and Climate Resilience Fund (hereinafter referred to as “GCRF”), works together with communities to curb the devastating impacts of climate change. With a strong focus on environmental protection, GCRF helps the Foundation to achieve its community program. Please take a look at https://tabejeannefoundation.org/detail.php?id=81 to learn more.

GCRF tackles, amongst others, deforestation, biodiversity loss, sea level rise, environmental waste, flooding, soil degradation, the depletion of natural resources and environmental quality across Benin and West Africa.

GCRF enables the Tabe Jeanne Foundation to raise donations, investments and grants.
